It all starts with the material. We read Ben Fountain’s novel and it blew our minds. Our frequent collaborators, Film4 felt the same way and so did Oscar winning screenwriter, Simon Beaufoy, who came on board and delivered the most stunning script.
Tom Rothman and Tristar believed in the project and developed it with us, bringing their old friend and visionary artist, Ang Lee, into the family. With shooting under way in April, we wrapped in June, and are now in post. We could not be happier with how it’s going.
Work is underway on the adaptation of “Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk” which is being directed by Ang Lee from a script by Simon Beaufoy, and is now in post-production.
Set in Dallas in 2005, and described as “poignant, riotously funny, and exquisitely heartbreaking”, the story follows infantryman Billy Lynn, a nineteen-year-old Texas native, and recounts the final few hours before he and his brothers-in-arms return to war in Iraq.
You fall in love with Billy and his buddies from the moment you step into their world. We cannot wait to bring them to life on screen.
